BTC stands for "Behind the Curtain," and signifies a post relating to how "Homewood Nation" works, and thoughts about journalism in general.
I feel like I'm still recovering from the weekend. This was my schedule going in...
Friday, 3:30 - 5 pm: Operation Better Block board meeting.
Friday, 5:30 - 8 pm: first meeting for the Homewood Comprehensive Community Plan
Saturday, 10:30 - noon: Block Watch Plus
Saturday, 1:30 - 3:30: panel discussion, "African-Americans in Homewood After World War II."
Saturday, 7:00 - ?: Book signing party for Dr. Mindy Thompson Fullilove, author of "ROOT SHOCK: How Tearing Up City Neighborhoods Hurts America, and What We Can Do About It"
Saturday, 9:30 - ?: CCO alumni reunion
Sunday, 9:10 - 10:15 am: Jubilee conference seminar
Sunday, 10:30 - 12:30 pm: Morning worship at Christian Tabernacle church, to hear Dr. Carl F. Ellis, Jubilee speaker and author. Reception afterward.
Sunday, ?? - ??pm: dinner with the Ellises, friends the Tibbses, and our other friends and tenants the Robinsons.
Not all of that happened - the alumni reunion and Sunday dinner fell off the calendar. But what remained was enough to keep me running. And enough so that I still need to report on some of it - I just haven't had the time yet. Or more precisely, the right combination of time, energy and will.
But I will report - sometime after attending the HBCCO Public Safety Committee meeting, which is happening right now.
